Ok, perchance sacrilegious, but I’d never had @ikea #meatballs before I went plant based. However!! Turns out they have #plantbased ones, so I decided to give ‘em a go. Spaghetti is such simple, quick comfort food - perfect for a rainy, blah night. They cooked up well and tasted fine! Not saying they’re the best, most flavourful plant balls I’ve ever had, but they did the job credibly. Cheers! No filter. Just the beaming face of a joyfully aging woman surrounded by love (and tea!!).Some days, some years, things just fall into place. Best 31st bday ever. (Technically, the ONLY 31st bday I’ve ever had, but still! It was pretty freaking grand! Thanks to the crew and @s_ggreco for a wonderful, fabulous day ♥️)It is so fantastic running into old friends!!!MmMmmMMMM!! Tweaked an old recipe favorite - added jackfruit where chicken used to be and it is 💯 PRIME!! The Greek Pasta pairs nicely w this Sauv Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand and a lovely spring day ⛅️ 10/10 would recommend 😄These cookies are the freaking TOP!! Swoon. 🤤 vegan, gluten free, and absolutely brilliant. @partakefoods good on ya! 🍪Archives

The Pinnacles
One of the last things I did before leaving Wellington was take a day trip with some friends to The Pinnacles – a natural land formation that is quite unique and impressive. Oh yeah, it was also a LotR film … Continue reading

Oamaru, Mouraki, and Dunedin
Oamaru was a gem of a find – a historic gold-mining and quarrying town renowned for its well-preserved heritage buildings. The Victorian precinct is particularly note-worthy for its Victorian and Industrial Steam themed buildings. In other words, kids, this is … Continue reading

Queenstown Letdown and Discovering Mount Cook
From Wanaka, I made my way down to Queenstown, Tourist Central and Home of Adventure Sports such as skiing, boating, sky-diving, and a really big swing. Before I got there, I took a brief detour to Arrowtown, a small village … Continue reading

Wet on the West Coast
What’s the first thing that springs to mind when I say West Coast? Ok, probably California. But, unlike that warm, sunny, American expanse, the West Coast in New Zealand is generally referring to the section on the South Island along … Continue reading

Christchurch and Arthur’s Pass
The day after seal watching was dedicated to soaking at Hanmer Springs – a hot springs facility outside of Christchurch. I got an $11 ticket from a deals website (either grabone or bookme, I think) and spent the entire, rainy … Continue reading

South Island Road Trip: Part 1
There was a lot of driving done on South Island, and I’d say half of it was because, “Well, I have time, so I’m going to take this several hour long side trek to see whatever’s there.” I zig-zagged back … Continue reading

Farewell Spit
No, it’s not the name of some strange leaving ritual (though now that you mention it…) – it’s the stretch of land right at the tippy top of the South Island. Weather was inclement, but I wasn’t going to let … Continue reading
